WOMEN IN FISHERIES F-REP

The WIF-REP is being developed by and is for women working in and with the UK fisheries sector.

17-20TH NOVEMBER – APPLY FOR YOUR PLACE HERE

Why an F-REP for women?

Research in the UK, shows that women contribute socially, economically and emotionally to the resilience of fishing businesses, families and places and they have a strong sense of belonging to fishing places and are active in their communities [1,2]. Women use, understand, and value natural resources differently and we need to ensure that their perspectives are included in natural resource management and meaningful inclusion of women leads to more sustainable outcomes [3].

We want to specifically work with women to develop skills and connections with an aim to build a more resilient industry, thriving communities, and abundant resources for future generations, for all. As an underrepresented group in the fisheries sector, this event will be for women only to be able to discuss challenges and opportunities together.

How can I attend?

The agenda will be developed and delivered by a team put together by WIF and FITF and include a mix of informal learning and knowledge-sharing, practical exercises, games, outings, eating and socialising together.

Register your interest by filling out this form or contact us at Fishing into the Future to tell us about yourself and why you would like to participate. Apply by 8th September and we’ll get back to you to let you know if you have a place.

This is a collaborative event, and financial support is available for participation and to cover time and associated costs.
